Summers Show 31/8 We are still accepting
entries in all classes but members please read the note below. We are still 12 helpers
short & the organiser has called nearly every member. It is a condition
of membership you help at, at least 1 event a year & so far (prior to the
Horse Trials) out of 160 members only 43 have helped & many of them
several times. We run these shows to raise money for the club so if you can
spare even half a day please call Catherine on 01825 790873. Don’t forget our
Evening Show Jumping on the 29th of August (open to all) – entries taken on the
day, click under 2008 for the schedule We are one of the largest and oldest clubs
in the country. With nearly 200 members in 2007, a quarter of them juniors,
we are committed to making riding and competing fun. The club organises a
variety of events and training for horses and riders of all abilities, as
well as competing in team qualifiers for the riding club championships.
Everyone is welcome, whatever your equine interest. Despite many calls on
their time our committee and organisers spend hours on the phone and days in
muddy fields ensuring that we able to run the shows included in our schedule.
We all agree that the very worst bit of the job is trying to get helpers.
Please make this easier for us by volunteering! The autumn horse trials are back but we
have reduced the number of events we run in December. Entries are noticeably
poorer once the weather gets bad and organisers are hard to come by. There is
an additional members only show jumping evening in June as these competitions
were well patronised in 2007. This year the members only dressage will take
place at Belmoredean instead of Ardingly as we will be combining the summer
series with dressage training. Without our very generous sponsors
commitment to the club we would be much more limited in the events we could
put on. Please reward their investment by buying their products and using
their services. Without them we could never invest in the facilities at
Ardingly or secure the high profile trainers that attend our members training
days. On behalf of all the members a very grateful thank you to all the
companies listed on the back of the schedule. Most of all we want Ardingly to be a riding
club where everyone feels welcome. Our aim is to have something for everyone
and quite a lot for most riders. Wishing you and your horse many happy hours
in 2008. Allison Ingram.
