Senior Report - Ann Bone

What a week-end......ARC got of to a very difficult start to the weekend, Deborah & Sarah arrived at 4 o'clock in great time, only to hear that Nicky's husband was ill and had to pull over on the motorway and wait for Jane to catch up to them so that she could drive their lorry, whilst her husband drove her lorry..  At near 20.00 hrs both horseboxes & driver/passengers arrive tired, hungry and exhausted.  After sorting out their horses and grabbing something to eat it was eventually time for bed..

Jane Taggart on Llandwen Deio got off to a good start with a her Prelim dressage test, shortly followed by Susannah Givons on Trevera Mirage doing the N27 test.  Just after lunch Nicky Gurden on Oakwood Dionysus did her N27 test followed by Deborah Boulton on Argento Dancer .  With such good competition the team ended 11th overall, but good scores by all competitors.

Also in the morning Jane Taggart & Sarah Jones on Nina did their Show Jumping first round and went clear, along with Deborah Boulton on Argento Dancer and Nicky Gurden, Jack all going clear and then onto the second round jump off.

The jumps went up and the first to jump was from Nicky who had a clear round followed by Sarah who unfortunately had one down, then came Jane with 4 faults, followed lastly by Deborah dropping jump 5 & 6 (8 faults) gave us a finishing total of 8 fault (as only three scores counted).  Unfortunately we just missed the placing's by one, ending on 11th place overall. A testing time by all competitors but a great time was had by all.

Junior Report -  My trip to Hartpury - National Novice Dressage Championships  - By Joshua Hill (aged 11)

On Sat 5th April, Ardingly Junior Dressage Team travelled up to Hartpury, Glos. It was a long journey and one I nearly didn’t make due to not just one but two lorries that didn’t want to make the journey!! Thankfully we overcame this and arrived Saturday evening. On arrival we put my horse away in a nice indoor stable and met up with the rest of the team.

Sunday - we awoke to snow and as I was second to go in my prelim arena, I was lucky enough to ride in it, I was very pleased with my test and had great comments from our travelling supporters. I was riding my Nana’s 22 year old horse Toby.

Up next was Emily Greenwood with Seafield Dynamite (Daisy) who produced a stunning test in the Novice arena.

It was up to Taylor Denness to put our team in the placings and she did an outstanding test with her wonderful pony Spike, which was great as this was the last time she will be competing on him as she is moving onto another bigger pony.

The results came through. I was 6th on Toby with 74% (the winner of my arena was on 76%). Taylor was 5th with 71% (again the winner was on 76%) and Emily was 24th which was disappointing as she did do a very good test. The great news was we came 9th as a team and also beat the seniors placings!!!!

We ended the day with a few laughs when on clearing out our horses stables, my nana ran out screaming due to finding a family of mice who then decided to run round everywhere.

I want to thank both my team members. We all had great fun together and are already looking forward to trying to qualify for the summer dressage championships at Lincoln.

P.S. My mum organises the junior teams and would like to hear from anyone who is interested in SJ, Eventing or Dressage teams this summer. It really is good fun and you get to meet some very nice people - Have a go!! Email Nicci on timandnic@uwclub.net
